چکیده

The nature of CMS construction is heavily constrained by time and budget, evolves with time and is highly distributed. Changes in CMS component design need to be tracked and quickly reflected in the production process. In industry, engineers employ Product Data Management (PDM) systems to control access to documented versions of designs. Workflow management systems (WfMS) [1] are employed to coordinate the complex and repeatable work processes of production. Workflow products cannot, however, support the dynamic activities found in the design stages of product development and in rapidly evolving process definitions and PDM systems are seldom used beyond design. Continuity from design to operation is therefore not facilitated by commercial products.

A Mathematical Model for Cell Formation in CMS Using Sequence Data

Cell formation problem in Cellular Manufacturing System (CMS) design has derived the attention of researchers for more than three decades. However, use of sequence data for cell formation has been the least investigated area. Sequence data provides valuable information about the flow patterns of various jobs in a manufacturing system. This paper presents a new mathematical model to solve a cell...

Report on the CMS Forward-Backward MSGC milestone

The CMS MF1 milestone was set in order to evaluate system aspects of the CMS forward-backward MSGC tracker, to check the design and feasibility of mass production and to set up all assembly and test procedures. We describe the construction and the experiences gained with the operation of a complete system of 38 MSGC detectors assembled in 6 multi-substrate detector modules corresponding to the ...

Quarkonium Production Studies in CMS

When the LHC starts its operation, CMS will have a unique opportunity to study quarkonium production in pp collisions and later in PbPb collisions. Here we report on the methods and plans for measuring the differential pT J/ψ→ μ μ production cross section, using data to be collected in the first LHC run by the CMS detector. Furthermore we discuss the performance of the CMS detector for quarkoni...

Development of Trigger and Control Systems for CMS

During the year of 2007, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and its four main detectors will begin operation with a view to answering the most pressing questions in particle physics. However before one can analyse the data produced to find the rare phenomena being looked for, both the detector and readout electronics must be thoroughly tested to ensure that the system will operate in a consistent ...
